Russian Сenter of Science and Culture held an informatics Olympiad for pupils of specialized schools of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Olympiad is one of the form of qualifying tests. The goal is to identify the most talented graduates of foreign schools to continue study in Russia on technical faculties. VSUES took part in the event among the leading Russian universities.

One of the authors of the test questions was Vyacheslav Ivin, Docent of the Department of Information Technologies and Systems of VSUES. The first stage of Olympiad was held on March 4, 2019 in the special school named after Hoang Van Thu (Hòa Bình, northern Vietnam) for 280 graduate pupils; March 6, 2019 - in the special school named by Quoc Hauk Hue (Hue city, central Vietnam) for 220 graduate students, and March 8, 2019 - for 160 students of the special school named by Lee You Chong (Can Tho, southern Vietnam). Vietnamese pupils showed high results in solving difficult Olympiad tasks.

- In order to enter Russian universities under quota or contract, Vietnamese applicants must pass the entrance exams. I took a part in the development of Informatics tasks in cooperation with my colleagues from other Russian universities. The test included logical and algorithmical tasks, programming and conversion of information. Pupils wrote a similar Olympiad in physics, mathematics and Russian language, - explained Vyacheslav Ivin.

Teachers of VSUES hold Informatics Olympiad for Russian students too. The Department of Information Technologies and Systems of VSUES annually organizes the regional competition ISFIT (“Information Society Functions on Information Technologies”) for high school students. Winners receive additional points while entering the university.
