Rustam Ismailov, Consul General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Vladivostok, told VSUES how to start a career in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

  Rustam Ismailov, Consul General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Vladivostok had meeting with undergraduate students majoring in International Relations, the Department of the International Relations and  School of the Law under the project «Invited speaker». After the opening of the Consulate General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Vladivostok (March 1, 2019), Rustam Ismailov participates in events which the university helds. 

-«The functional duty of the Consulate General, in addition to protecting the rights and interests of citizens, is the development of trade and economic relations, the expansion of contacts in the field of education and tourism»,- Rustam Ismailov emphasized. -«We are, in a way, colleagues». I graduated from the Department of International Economic Relations of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy of the Republic of Uzbekistan. You may be future diplomats, so you have to know a lot and be comprehensively developed experts.

The topic of the meeting was «Uzbek-Russian relations». Therefore, students, Olga Bogova, a leading expert in the department of the International Academic Mobility and Nadezhda Kotlyar, an assistant professor of the Department of International Relations and Law, watched the video and learned a lot about modern Uzbekistan, for example, the culture and attractions of the country, which is located in central part of Central Asia.  

Students asked most of the questions about career. The invited speaker told many interesting facts from his biography:

- For four years I was Consul General in the UK, and then I worked in Greece for the same period. Since 2019, I have been Consul General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Vladivostok, Rustam Ismailov said. - I began my career in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the position of referent; my next step was already the junior diplomatic position is attache. I have been serving in the Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan for over 18 years.

Rustam Ismailov emphasized that the meeting was not the last. The organizers of the event are International and Cultural Affairs Department and the Department of International Relations and Law of the VSUES confirmed that they plan to carry out joint events and meetings with Rustam Sabirzhanovich with students and staff.

Anastasia Kruglova, the 2nd year student of the undergraduate program majoring in International Relations:

- I really liked this format of communication. It is worth noting that for the first time I could communicate so fluently and ask questions to the consul general. I learned a lot, now I have an understanding of how I can still broaden my horizons. I have an interest in the development of culture in the international space, and now I am very interested in diplomacy. Students of the undergraduate program majoring in International Relations must study two foreign languages - English and the second, one of the Asian, they can choose by themselves. «I learn Chinese», Anastasia said.

Among the active participants in the meeting were students Rodion Shakhov, Sergey Shlepkin and Angelina Vedyashkina.

A lot of students from Uzbekistan study at VSUES, including those who study International Relations. Last year, the first 16 undergraduate students graduated from VSUES.
