A Concert for Victory Day Was Held at VVSU

9 мая 2025 University life

May 7, 2025 a concert dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War was held in the Underground Theatre of VVSU. Performance groups of VVSU congratulated students, veterans and guests of the university on the upcoming holiday.

During the Great Patriotic War, more than 200 thousand Primorye residents fought at the battle front. 45 thousand of them never returned home. Far Easterners defended Moscow and Leningrad, fought in Stalingrad and on the Kursk Bulge, crossed the Dnieper, liberated Belarus, stormed Berlin. Front-line soldiers from Primorye were awarded 230 thousand military awards, 104 of them were awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union.

“During the war, the first defense fund in the country was opened in Vladivostok. Residents of Primorye did not skimp and gave there all the most valuable, everything for the sake of victory. The Far Eastern capital was awarded the honorary title of “City of Military Glory”. And today our university proudly bears the name of this city - Vladivostok State University. We have never stood aside from these events. Honoring the memory of generations is our good tradition,” said Ilya Bedrachuk.

On-stage groups of the VVSU performed for the guests. The audience heard wartime songs and modern compositions, saw theatrical performances, and immersed themselves in the atmosphere of Victory Day. Students of the Academic College recalled the feat of Vladivostok during the war. Their choir performed the anthem of the city of military glory.

The director of the International and Cultural Affairs Department of VVSU Petr Semin performed his original song “Before the Battle”. His performance was a tribute to the living heroes and to those who did not return from battle.

"There are fewer and fewer of them among us, veterans of that long-ago war. But the memory of them lives in our hearts, in books, in films, in songs... in the trees of the Victory Alley, which was planted by university students and veterans of the Great Patriotic War,” concluded Konstantin Pospelov, head of the VVSU Youth Center.

At the end of the concert, the university guests, the  veterans, were invited to a ceremonial meeting: a festive dinner for the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
