Department of International Relations and Law

The educational program at the Department of International Relations and Law fully meets the standards in the professional field. Professional competencies in the field of international relations are formed in the process of studying law, political and economic disciplines. Students have the opportunity to improve their qualification in the following areas: The Law of The APR Countries, The Culture of The APR Countries, The State Study of The APR Countries, etc.

The graduates of “International Relations” and “Foreign Regional Studies” work in governmental departments, federal and regional bodies of state power and administration, perform junior and middle-level professional duties in the institutions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, work as coordinators of international cooperation in Russian and foreign business structures, work as specialists of international departments and manage international campaign projects.

Department of International Relations and Law was established in 2001 as Department of International Relations and American Studies offering the following majors "International Relations" and "Regional Studies". Since that moment, students of the department study international relations and regional processes of the countries of the Asia-Pacific region, two foreign languages and have the opportunity to spend at least a year in the country of the studied language. Since 2015 in addition to political and linguistic studies the students have an opportunity to study international law.

The department is engaged in the study of international relations and regional studies, an in-depth study of international politics and history, law and diplomacy, culture and ethnic processes of the countries of the Asia-Pacific region. Teachers and students of the department participate in contests and grants, scientific and language foreign internships, participate in scientific seminars, publish scientific papers, take part in scientific conferences in Russia and abroad.
