Foreign students of VSUES continue their acquaintance with the Russian culture. They have already visited a ceramic workshop at our university and tried their hand in making the Dymkovo pottery toy. This time they had a Russian cuisine lesson with an international program teacher of “VSUES – PIHMS Hotel Management School” head chef Petr Baev:

- Today we made a traditional Russian borshch and crapes with students. I told them about history of crapes which originally symbolized the sun and the incoming of spring. Regarding borshch, I demonstrated a classical formula of this dish to the students and said about an order for adding the ingredients. My trainees who are students of the international programme of “VSUES – PIHMS Hotel Management School” helped prepare intermediate products for this master-class. That is how they study peculiarities of kitchen operation and learn to control food preparation in a restaurant.

Foreign students did their part in preparing the dishes. They made competition in cooking crapes. The students actively supported each other in their efforts to cook the traditional Russian delicatesse. Successful crapes were welcomed with enthusiastical yells and applauds.

When it came to degustate, the students of the Hotel Management School demonstrated their skills in table setting.
