The first New Year tree was lit in VSUES by foreign students

Many foreign students met their first New Year in Russia on December, 13 in a banquet hall of “Underground” in a joyful company of VSUES students and volunteers of the Friend program. Staff members of International programs division of International relations department in VSUES organized this holiday for the Chinese, Korean and American students.

Music could be heard from a distance. Amphitryons were meeting guests in a comfortable hall with a decorated New Year tree. Tables were spread for the holiday dinner.

The students learned about traditions of celebrating the New Year in Russia at different times. Colourful presentation was demonstrated by a student of the School of foreign languages Oksana Kurdukova.

Then the show presenter Marina Vasilieva and the guests called for Ded Moroz and Snow Maiden. They appeared, the conifer tree was lit and the time for contest games came. Everybody was happy to participate and no one was left without a prize.

The bravest girls volunteered to be “conifer trees”. Some minutes later guys started to decorate them with spangle and knick knackery. Their friends cheered them on. Then there were other contests, presents, circle dance, refreshments and memorable photography.
