23 ноября 2018 Students’ life

VSUES international students met with Alexander Zubritskiy, the director of the Far East branch of the Russkiy Mir Foundation*, the president of the Asia-Pacific Association of Teachers of the Russian Language and Literature.

On November 21, VSUES School of Foreign Languages (SFL) invited  Alexander Zubritskiy to give a lecture on language education for international students of Russian. The guest speaker not only spoke about the importance of Russian for diplomacy and commerce, but also engaged the students in discussions.

Alexander Zubritskiy is sure that demand for Russian classes will grow as Russian is becoming increasingly popular with foreigners. Over 6000 people are learning Russian in the Far East. 80 % of them are students from China. An interesting fact about VSUES is that the university has opened its doors to many students from Laos who chose to study at the university.

Over 70 international students studying Russian at SFL took part in the dialogue about trends in language education and language learning.

According to Mr. Zubritskiy, it is these students who will assist in maintaining relations and building a dialogue between Russia\'s Far East and neighboring counties in the near future.

Alexander Zubritskiy heads the Far East branch of the Russkiy Mir Foundation that aims to promote understanding and peace in the world by supporting, enhancing and encouraging the appreciation of Russian language, heritage and culture. The Foundation supports many events arranged for international students and held in VSUES - Interuniversity Tournament (the Spartakiad), I Study in Russia Contest, to name a few.

Alexander Zubritskiy concluded by encouraging all those present to keep learning Russian and grow professionally.
