Consul of education, press and culture affairs of the General Consulate of the USA Mr. Dae Kim talked to VSUES students about educational system in the USA
The meeting was initiated by the professor of Department of World Economy and Economic Theory of VSUES, doctor of historic sciences Larisa Garusova.
In the beginning of the conversation Mr. Kim said a few words about himself underlining the fact that he was born in the republic of Korea, but later immigrated with his parents to the States. So, he could talk about the educational system in the USA based on his personal experience.
In his speech the consul touched on the educational structure, types of universities, main differences between state and private schools and appraisal system of students' knowledge. Freedom, independence and competition of American schools were named as basic elements of the system.
After communication with the students Mr. Kim met with the provost for development of VSUES, candidate of economic sciences Larisa Shilovskaya and the provost for academic affairs, doctor of economic sciences Irina Chernaya.
Irina Chernaya said that VSUES pays much attention to the development of cooperation with universities and organizations of the USA and actively participates in cultural and educational projects organized by the General Consulate.
-At present we have agreements for cooperation signed with four educational organizations of the USA: University of Alaska State, University of Eastern Carolina, Western Washington University, United company Alinga Group “School of Russian and Asian Researches”. Also, our students and teachers take part in international conferences and workshops, visit the USA with exchange programs and internships on a regular basis.
The consul expressed a desire for further active support of the partnership and for assistance in development of business, scientific and cultural contacts.
