VSUES students from the USA got acquainted with achievements of Japan
The summer course students visited a master class of the engineer Takahashi Tomotaka, who told about his secrets of designing the world famous humanoids. This meeting with the professor of the Fukuyama university and institute of electronic communications in Osaka, Mr. Takahashi Tomotaka, was organized by the Consulate general of Japan in Vladivostok together with the Japanese fund.
The creator of the eminent startup company ROBO GARAGE in Kyoto University brought in the capital of Primorsky krai three of his most popular models of robots which enraptured not only young people, but also spectators of the senior generation.
Little EVOLTA was shown first. It became known after climbing the top of Grand Canyon with advertising of Panasonic batteries and also after participating in car races “24 hours of Le Mans”. VSUES foreign students from the USA were touched by the tiny robot. It was interesting for them to understand how this “baby” robot could be climbing the rope higher and higher.
A woman robot was demonstrated next. Its plastique of movements was projected after consultations with famous models. The third robot was imitating a child. According to the creator himself, the “babe” is the most perfect out of the presented samples.
The Japanese man of genius thinks that his “children” can soon change our life:
- Robots will become an inseparable part of our life in close future, as computers and mobile phones did. In about 15 years every person will on the average have one robot which will meet his needs.
The American students were accompanied by their new friends from the School of foreign languages of VSUES who acted as interpreters.
- I was watching the football match of robots RoboCup with pleasure! Football is my passion and my interest doubled after seeing Takahashi robots play on their own! – said Williams Eric Charles.
In the end of the meeting the present audience had the opportunity to ask questions. The Japanese robot technician answered them in detail.
