VSUES team came in first in the races on “dragons”

47 teams took part in the sports competition at the Korabelnaya quay of Vladivostok. Initially “dragon” boat races were outspread only in China. Nowadays they are popular in the whole world. Boat length is 12,49 m and the width is 1,16 m. A drummer who keeps time to the race sits at the nose of the boat next to the dragon head facing the team. A steersman sits at the aft and handles the ship with the help of a large steering oar.

VSUES was presented by a team called “Youth of VSUES”. One of the team members Alexander Skidanenko said:

- I go in for swimming professionally and perform in the city competitions on behalf of VSUES not for the first time. My coacher Natalya Danilchenko offered me to try rowing. It was a new experience for me. Two weeks later I invited my friend Sergey Sergeev to join me. We got excited over this kind of sport and started to train ourselves in earnest. I think that our team has demonstrated an excellent result.  

“Youth of VSUES” took the fourth place in the whole competition and the first place among other teams of students. They have gone 200 m straight with the result of 57.90 seconds. The absolute winner of the races got ahead of the VSUES students only by 3 seconds.
