Volunteers center of VSUES saw its representatives off to the 30th summer Olympic games in London that will take place in the capital of Great Britain from July, 27 up to August, 12.

These are a 3-year student of the School of international business and economics Karina Subbotina and a magistrand of the same school Elena Katrichenko. The girls told about what helped them get through shortlisting and what they were planning to do in the Olympic village.

Karina Subbotina:

- When I first saw an announcement on our web-site I was just curious. However, after I got through the shortlisting in VSUES, preparations in Adler and in Moscow I understood that it would be an important work in a team of other people.  At the training meeting in Adler in autumn of 2011 we were evaluated by how we associated in a team. When the winners were announced we went through detailed instructions. My activity in the Olympic village is to accompany teams and to provide language services as I can speak Japanese and English. We receive good knowledge and skills of foreign languages at our university.

Elena Katrichenko:

- I had extra lessons of English with our and American teachers from the School of foreign languages and participated in the summer program “Work & Тravel” during my holidays. America gave me a good conversational practice. Along with my studies at the university I also went to Korea where teaching was done in English and communication outside of studies was mainly in English as well. Now I correspond with my friends through Facebook, watch movies in English, accompany English-speaking students of VSUES who come to our university by exchange programs to different places during week-ends.

All volunteers were given different useful materials to study. Among them there was a hand language and a safety section for volunteers with recommendations for lifting heavy things without overloading the backbone, for compliance with nutrition prescription, etc. – we felt concern for our health and it was very pleasant.

After we come back, we will have many things to share with volunteers that will be preparing in VSUES for the Olympics in Sochi.
