VSUES volunteers at the Pickup basketball world cup
A grand sports festival – Pickup basketball world cup “Pacific Open 2012” - took place in Vladivostok under the auspices of International basketball federation (FIBA). It put 16 strongest teams of Asian Pacific region together. VSUES volunteers accompanied sportsmen and acted as interpreters at the international event.
- Beside Russian teams, national teams from China, USA, Australia, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Nepal, Turkmenistan, Singapore, Iran, Japan and South Korea came to Vladivostok, - said a volunteer of the world cup Daria Safronova.
“Pacific Open” has become a part of series of The Masters that are held in five cities: New-York, Istanbul, Madrid, San Paulo and Vladivostok. Primorski Krai is one of the leaders of the pickup basketball in Russia. One of the first centers of pickup basketball in our country - “Spartak” was opened here. Vladivostok teams have become participants of all knockout rounds of the championship of Russia over a period of five years.
This year “Pacific Open” has gained a new status and become one of The Masters tournaments. Thus, Vladivostok has stood up in one row together with the world’s capitals.
