A new unique show-piece – Wish tree appeared in the Museum and exhibition complex of VSUES. It was very popular among participants of the Student festival of Japanese culture BunkaSAI 2013 which took place in the university in May, the 12th.

Now this tree is a part of the museum exposition and it reflects international activity of VSUES and its interaction with foreign partners.

The tradition of attaching paper strips with written wishes to a tree has existed in Japan for several centuries. Every year on July, 7 the Japanese tie paper strips to branches of a Wish tree asking for health, love, family happiness and material well-being.

Thanks to the project Сool-Japan-Ru and the general consulate of Japan in Vladivostok this tradition has now a Russian history. It is no wonder that VSUES became the place where the wish tree “struck its roots”. The Japanese language has been taught in the university for many years, culture and economical life of the land of the Rising Sun has been studied. VSUES offers many joint projects and educational programs with Japanese universities.

Within a month any visitor of the museum can write his wish on a ready-made paper strip and attach it to the Wish tree.
