The visit took place from February 12th through February 15th and was devoted to negotiations regarding foundation of a joint international college in China.
The Changchun University was founded in 2000 and over the next 14 years it has been developed into a multidisciplinary university. At present it consists of 12 institutes and 36 departments (engineering, computer technologies, economics, management, etc.) with a total enrollment of 13000 full-time attendance students. The administration of the Changchun University has initiated a project on the establishment of a joint international college of the North-Eastern Asia and offered VSUES to become its partner. The educational programs, techniques and standards of VSUES and the Changchun University will be combined and applied in the joint institution. It is planned to be located in Hunchun (the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture, Jilin province, China). The new institution will enroll 1000 students annually and will train highly-qualified international standard specialists.
The negotiations were led by the former president of the Changchun University Kang Jishan and the current president Kang Tsipen who explained the importance of the mutual contribution to the project and its value to both the universities.
Tatyana Terenteva, the first vice-president of VSUES, confirmed that the Vladivostok State University of Economics and Service agreed to contribute to the establishment of a joint international college and its partnership with the Changchun University:
- The administration of the Jilin province and its economical, education, culture and sports departments are active and reliable partners to their counterparts in the Primorsky Krai. In order to maintain this beneficial cooperation both sides seek highly-qualified specialists in the relevant fields. The VSUES administration pays great attention to the quality of training its students and therefore it will contribute its best knowledge and experience to the joint project initiated by the Changchun University. This joint college will become a higher-education institution of the international standard and its graduates will be able to make a major contribution to growth and prosperity of both Russia and China.
