Pygmalion-XXI - show of young talents visualizing dreams
On the 25 of April the stage of the concert-hall “Underground” turned into a catwalk where reviving dolls and flowers, fantastic princesses, people of the future and simply elegant eye-catching girls demonstrated their inimitable style. This fantastic show took place within the framework of the ХХI International competition of the young designers “Pygmalion”.
This year the “Pygmalion” was held within one day. That is why fledgeling designers did not have to wait for the results for a long time. About 80 unique collections were demonstrated by the contestants. The participants included students from VSUES partner universities of Japan and China and also students from such Russian cities, as Ussuriisk, Khabarovsk, Blagoveshchensk, Omsk, Krasnoyarsk, Ufa, Volgograd and Vladikavkaz. There were six traditional nominations: “Pro”, “Debut”, Eco-style”, “Junior-fashion”, “Advance guard-performance” and “Pret-a-porter”.
Professionals of the world of fashion were invited as guests:
Victor Kuz`michev;
Ichiro Tsuchida (Niigata, Japan);
Maya Kuznetsova.
-It is not just a competition, but also and a festival and a demonstration of skills, - said director of Institute of service, tourism and design, Tatyana Boytsova about “Pygmalion”. She wished success to the participants and thanked them for their work, talent and aspiration.
This event turned out very ambitious and exciting. Each collection was worked out to the last detail. Imagination and expressed ideas of young designers amazed by their broad variety.
In total, such themes, as mixture of roles between men and women, war theme, ethnic motives of different nationalities, doll theme and Russian culture were the most popular ones at the competition.
A great number of audiences attended this event and most of them remained satisfied.
