VSUES and National University of Laos opened joint educational center in Vientiane

The joint Center of Russian Language and Culture of Vladivostok State University of Economics and Service and National University of Laos was open on the official ceremony in Vientiane. Opening of the Center became the first serious step towards strengthening of cooperation between the universities since the collaboration agreement was signed two years ago.

Preparations for Center opening took about a year. National University of Laos prepared special hall for the center and VSUES provided all educational materials and literature as well as materials for designing the Center in Russian style. Students of VSUES School of Design made traditional Russian costumes in order to put it in the Center.

President of National University of Laos Dr. Soukkongseng Saygnaleu, Vice-President of the University Dr. Pfout Simmalavong, Head of Russian Center of Science and Culture in Vientiane Lyudmila Khuntish, representative of the Ambassador Extraordinaire and Plenipotentiary of Russian Federation in Laos Elena Sutormina were warmly welcomed on the opening ceremony of the Center with bread and salt, which is a traditional Russian greeting tradition.

Students already have their Russian language lessons in the center and they are very happy to get the opportunity to study with the new materials. Svetlana V. Karyakina became the first Russian teacher who had lessons in the new center.

The work of Russian language center will help Lao students and pupils of senior school to start learning Russian language before entering the Russian university. In this order, students will be able to adapt quicker to the Russian everyday life and to get better points for their lessons.
