VSUES will hold a number of events together with Toyama Prefecture in the year of its 50th anniversary

Rector of VSUES, Tatiana Terentieva, had a meeting with Japanese delegation from Toyama Prefectural management: Tomohiro Matsumoto, the head of the department of international relations, and Wataru Iwasaki, a member of the department, as well as Tatiana Britsina, the coordinator of relations with Russia. Petr Semin, the head of International and Cultural Affairs Department, also represented VSUES.

The main pointe of the meeting was growth of relations between Toyama Prefecture and Primorsky krai including issues of education and science.

Tomohiro Matsumoto noticed that 25th anniversary of Toyama Prefecture and Primorsky krai relations and 50th anniversary of VSUES could be perfect chance for mutual relations improvement.

It was suggested to hold Japanese traditional Flower Festival in Vladivostok, little known to Russian people. VSUES offered to hold cultural and ecological events during Pacific Touristic Forum.

At the end of the meeting the sides exchanged souvenirs and gifts and took a walk in Japanese garden of stones in VSUES campus.

Reference

Japanese garden of stones was built in VSUES 15 years ago. It was named after Yoshio Morimoto, the first chairman of the friendship society “Toyama – Primorye”. Mr. Morimoto and the society sponsored the project of the garden and it was built with the efforts of Toyama Prefecture association of gardeners. The author of the project is Shinji Kugo, the master of Japanese garden art.
