Scientists of VSUES and NEFU (China) discussed the issues of regional cooperation at the China-Russia international scientific conference

The international scientific conference on China-Russia regional cooperation and sustainable development was held in Harbin (China). The organizers were the Institute of Economics and Management of the Northeast Forestry University  (NEFU), the China-Russia Regional Research Center for Sustainable Development, the Analytical Center for Modern Forestry and Economics of Heilongjiang province, as well as the Analytical Center for Ecological Construction and Ecological Development of Heilongjiang province.

At the conference Russia was represented by several scientific and educational organizations. The scientists from VSUES led by the university’s rector, doctor of economics, Professor Tatiana Terentyeva; deputy director of International and Cultural Affairs Department, Wang Bin, Doctor of Laws, Professor Alexey Mamychev; PhD, Associate Professor, Sophia Yarusova; doctor of economics, Professor Andrey Shelomentsev, and doctor of economics, Associate Professor Svetlana Doroshenko.

The main goal set by the organizers of the scientific conference is to increase the level of Russian-Chinese interregional cooperation. Special attention was paid to the development of an effective cooperation mechanism, the new areas of industrial safety and environmental development, as well as the achievement of continuous, mutually beneficial development. The international meeting of scientists was another step to strengthen scientific and technical cooperation and academic exchange between VSUES and NEFU and the organizing of a research center for the continuous regional development of Russia and China.

At the meeting with the delegation of VSUES the president of NEFU Li Bin highly appreciated the contribution of the university to the development of strategic partnership. The integration of scientific research of the two universities should increase their efficiency, focus on solving urgent socio-economic problems and serve the further development of partnership between Russia and China.

«The partnership of our universities is more than 10 years,» said Tatiana Terentieva, «we started with the education of students, student exchanges, and today we have moved to a completely new level, we are going to conduct joint research work. Bilateral relations between China and Russia, the cooperation in all areas from military to cultural, has experienced a sharp rise in recent years. In 2018, the trade turnover between the two countries reached a record volume – $107 billion, and the first 7 months of this year showed an excess the same period by almost 5%! To maintain this pace and to be guided not only in the current economic situation, but also to calculate the prospects, business representatives must take into account many factors.»

The results of the scientific research will be presented in joint monographs and articles in leading international publications, at international conferences in Russia, China and other countries. They will be discussed at the annual China-Russia International Scientific Conference on regional cooperation and sustainable development organized for this purpose.

The second China-Russia International Scientific Conference will be held in April 2020 at VSUES in Vladivostok.
