Young scientist-psychologist of VSUES Vladimir Shibaev: if you write in English, the scientific world reads you
Vladimir Shibaev, assistant of the Department of Legal Philosophy and Psychology at VSUES, is only 27 years old, but he already has a lot of scientific achievements: participation in major international forums and congresses, publication of an article co-authored with foreign fellow scientists: Michael Woodley of Meni, Jan Noenhuzh, Ian Smith and Miao Li, in the journal «Personality and Individual Differences», indexed in the international databases WoS and Scopus, presentation of a poster presentation at the ISIR (International Society for Intelligence Research) conference in Minneapolis, USA, development of our own scientific research «Intelligence as factor of regional differences in the RF». At the moment, Vladimir Shibaev oversees the international aspect of the implementation of grants, which are won by the research team of the Department of Philosophy and Legal Psychology of VSUES under the leadership of Professor, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Valentina Chernyavskaya, together with the Department of Research Work of VSUES under the leadership of Associate Professor, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Galina Petruk.
- I negotiate with foreign scientists whom we attract to participate in grants, draw up documentation, oversee international cooperation, Vladimir Shibaev notes. - Proficiency in English at a professional level with the ability to conduct discussions using special terminology is a key competence for a young scientist who wants to be noticeable in the international scientific space.
Vladimir emphasizes that this level of language proficiency is achieved only by practice: reading scientific articles in English, dialogues with fellow scientists at conferences and symposia, conducting professional correspondence:
- Since the bulk of scientific data is published in English, accordingly, a young scientist who wants to be at the peak of modern scientific achievements should read articles in English, and if he wants the whole world to read it, he should publish his scientific data in English.
