The recording of the online lecture "The Inside Out of the Kimono" by the certified consultant of the kimono Olga Khovanchuk took place at the VSUES Museum and Exhibition Complex at the initiative of the director of the complex, Nadezhda Sukhareva.

- The lecture continues a series of exhibition and educational projects aimed at studying and demonstrating traditional Japanese costume, its existence in the past and present, - Nadezhda Sukhareva said. - Today's meeting is taking place within the framework of the Fifth Festival "Japanese Autumn", organized by the Consulate General of Japan in Vladivostok.

Olga Khovanchuk, the author of the first scientific research in Russia on the history of traditional Japanese costume, explained that the lecture is designed for the widest possible audience, but it will be especially interesting for designers, art critics, and costume history specialists:

- We will use the title of the lecture, both literally and figuratively, because the world of kimono has many hidden sides that are not visible to the viewer. One of them is the process of creating a costume itself. What drives the master? Where do ideas come from and how do they find their embodiment? What does it take to create a salable item? During the lecture, we will slightly open the veil of the author's intention, touch on the philosophy of the master artist of the kimono, talk about the reverse side of the kimono, its lining, which has become no less important part of the costume than the front side. Real Japanese fashionistas paid great attention to the lining of clothes and the invisible parts of the costume. Why? You will definitely learn all this from our lecture.
