The first graduation ceremony for foreign graduates of the PhD program was held at VSUES.

A solemn presentation of diplomas to foreign PhD students (Doctor of Philosophy) was held at VSUES. Rector Tatiana Terentyeva and President of VSUES Gennady Lazarev presented diplomas to successfully defended applicants.

A citizen of the Republic of Korea, Jong Myung Soo, successfully defended his dissertation research in English and Russian for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in economics on the topic: "Theoretical and methodological aspects of assessing the investment attractiveness of the Russian Far East." The meeting of the International Dissertation Council was attended by council members (including online), applicants, opponents, VSUES management.

Rector of VSUES, Doctor of Economics, Professor Tatyana Terentyeva congratulated the young scientists and during the presentation of diplomas noted that these achievements are the beginning of a large and long-term cooperation:

- I sincerely congratulate Jung Myung Soo on his graduation. This is the first diploma. And nothing stopped - neither the pandemic, nor the borders, which are now closed, because of which we cannot move freely and communicate with each other. Even under such conditions, we can achieve the desired results. This is a start, and I think this is a good start. We will continue to recommend our dissertation council for graduates to carry out their research.

Now Ph.D. in economics, Jong Myung Soo admitted that thanks to such an opportunity to study at the International Smart University at the Center for training and educational programs of the World Health Organization VSUES, he fulfilled his old dream. Its scientific advisor - Doctor of Economics, Professor Alexander Latkin - helped to start the postgraduate student''s path as a scientist and reach the PhD degree. And now the young scientist is considering further cooperation with the university. Jong Myung Soo expressed his desire to work as a teacher at VSUES, teach students and strengthen Russian-Korean cooperation.

VSUES President Gennady Lazarev:

- Many universities in the country have now approved the recruitment for PhD, VSUES has already completed the first graduation. It is very important. This event is not only within our community, but also international.

A special moment of the ceremony was the awarding of the VSUES rector Tatyana Terentyeva with a commemorative sign “160 years of the city of Vladivostok”. On behalf of the head of the city of Vladivostok, Tatyana Terentyeva was thanked for the large-scale work for the benefit of the city and the region.
