An online meeting with Mongolian high school graduates took place last week. The event for applicants was organized with the assistance of the Institute of Open Education in Russian in Mongolia at the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Ulan Bator.

The meeting was attended by graduates from various schools of Mongolia. During the meeting, the head of the department of international educational programs Tatyana Bogdanovich made a presentation of VSUES, spoke about the documents required for admission to the university, areas of training for bachelor's, specialist's and master's degrees. Information was also provided on the city of Vladivostok and the Primorsky Krai.

During the presentation,  asked many questions about the university, the educational process and living conditions. The students were surprised that Vladivostok is much closer to Ulan Bator than Moscow and St. Petersburg.

- The guys were actively interested in Vladivostok, asked many questions about VSUES. It seems to me that they are interested in our region because, firstly, it is located on the seashore, and secondly, the Primorsky Krai is close to the Asia-Pacific countries. The children were also interested in the opportunity to study at partner universities in China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Vietnam and others, - said Tatiana Bogdanovich.

In addition to the presentation of the university, Svetlana Karyakina, a teacher of the preparatory department for foreign citizens of VSUES, conducted a quiz lesson with the students, thanks to which the children learned even more about Russia and our city. During the lesson, the schoolchildren got acquainted with the nature of the Primorsky Krai and were very impressed with the fact that we have a lotus growing and every year the city celebrates the "Day of the Tiger". Of course, they wanted to see all this with their own eyes!

Russian teachers also attended the meeting from Mongolian schools. They noted the high professionalism of the Russian language teacher Svetlana Karyakina. In their opinion, a successful lesson material was chosen, which interested the students. The format of the quiz lesson allowed the VSUES teacher to easily involve the children in the cognitive process, and to show the students their regional and linguistic knowledge and skills without much stress.

Russian teachers expressed a wish to attend refresher courses in Russian as a foreign language, and the head of the preparatory department Victoria Soleinik said that such courses are organized for foreign teachers in the summer and VSUES invites Mongolian teachers.

About 30 high school students in grades 10-12 attended the meeting, and many of them spoke good Russian, asked questions about the conditions for admission to VSUES, about bachelor's programs and additional language programs, the possibility of receiving a scholarship, about living conditions and leisure activities.

- Lively interest suggests that high school students plan to study in Russia, and this meeting will help them decide on the choice of their specialty and university. And we really hope that it will be VSUES! - Victoria Soleinik shared her impressions of the meeting.
