VSUES Rector Tatiana Terentyeva met with representatives of the ASEAN Centre in MGIMO-University the MFA of Russia

Within the framework of the regional "ASEAN Week", which is held in the Far East by the ASEAN Center in MGIMO-University of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, representatives of this authoritative organization together with the MGIMO student delegation visited the VSUES.

Acquaintance with the university began with an exhibition dedicated to the thirtieth anniversary of the university's international affairs, and the main point of the business visit program was a meeting with the Rector of the VSUES, Doctor of Economics, Professor Tatiana Terentyeva.

Ekaterina Koldunova, Director of the Center, Candidate of Political Sciences, specialist in international relations and political processes in Southeast Asia, and Viktor Sumsky, a leading expert of the Center, Doctor of Historical Sciences, specialist in the problems of modern history and modern development of Southeast Asian countries, discussed prospects for cooperation with the Rector of VSUES.

Commenting on the event, Tatiana Terentyeva noted that this meeting is very important for both sides.

— I hope that our business contacts with the ASEAN Center at MGIMO the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia will develop successfully, and in the near future we will be able to start implementing joint activities that are significant both for the university community. Also for strengthening international cooperation in the field of education, strengthening the positions of domestic universities in the Asia-Pacific countries, — said the Rector of VSUES.

The plans of VSUES and the ASEAN Center in MGIMO include joint educational projects, internships for students and teachers, scientific, cultural and educational projects, the development of academic mobility, and the promotion of Russian education in the Asia-Pacific countries.

Tatiana Terentyeva emphasized that the guests were interested in the experience of cooperation between the VSUES and Laos.

— The history of our partnership with this country began back in 2013. The effectiveness of this work can be judged by only one figure: more than half of all Lao citizens who study in Vladivostok are students of our university. We are constantly interacting with the National University of Laos. We have opened a joint educational center of Russian language and Culture at the university, which is a very interesting, non-standard and promising project.

The continuation of the visit was an informal meeting of the leadership of the Center and the MGIMO student delegation with the teachers of the VSUES, Lao students who study at our university, and Honorary Consul of the Lao People's Democratic Republic Alexander Virich.
