VSUES students took part in the Hallym Online Korean Studies Taster Program. The educational program was divided into three session:

  • Korean New Year Holiday (Seollal). History and Tradition;
  • Korean Etiquette and International Business in Korea;
  • Social Issues in Modern Korean Society.

Each class involved live lectures from the professors with students then joining break out groups for small group discussion, using assigned discussion questions before rejoining the class for further discussion and feedback.

Polina Vinichuk, a third-year student of the Department of Civil and Legal Disciplines (Jurisprudence), said:

— I decided to take part in the program to get acquainted with the new culture. The lesson I remember the most was "Social Issues in Modern Korean Society". We looked at actual political, economic and social problems in Korea and discussed different questions together with other students. The program left a lot of positive emotions.

Valeria Kirillova, a 2nd year student of the Institute of Law (International Relations):

— I want to go to Hallym to study as an exchange student. The online program is a great opportunity to improve my communication skills in English and meet other students. I previously studied Korean on my own, now I am studying it directly as one of the subjects in my course. I would sincerely like to connect my life with Korea — the culture and language of this country are interesting to me.
