6 апреля 2022 International Relations

The International Interuniversity Festival "I study in Russia", which has become a VSUES hallmark, is a long-awaited event for international students and professors. This year, over a hundred students from twelve universities representing eighteen countries participate in the Festival: the China, Laos, Colombia, Ecuador, Iran, Egypt, India, Bolivia, Algeria, Morocco, Kenya and others.

The main idea of the festival is to expand international cultural ties between universities, and to preserve and develop the multinational culture of foreign countries and Russia.

The festival was launched by Tatiana Terenteva, VSUES Rector, Doctor of Economics, Professor. She warmly welcomed the participants, guests and organizers of the event:

— Today, international students from almost all of the higher education institutions in Primorsky Krai have gathered within the walls of our wonderful university. Nevertheless, our festival has long since gone beyond the region, uniting all those who study in Russia, who love Russian culture and the Russian language. I really want you to fall in love with our country, Primorsky Krai and our beloved Vladivostok just as we do", said the VSUES Rector.

Galina Kasyanenko, a specialist of the VSUES School of Pedagogy and Linguistics, the organizer of the Festival, stressed that the festival of friendship and creativity is a long-awaited event:

— In 2020 and 2021, "I study in Russia" took place in a distance-learning format due to restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.  Today, most of the participants — students from five universities — perform on stage and show their talent. Foreigners from seven universities participate online.

The most sought-after competition of the Festival was the "Poetry Reading", with Alexander Pushkin as the most popular poet. International students sang in Indian and Vietnamese and soloed on the cello.

The girls, who came to study at VSUES from Laos, chose a folk dance:

— This is the first time we are taking part in the Festival. It was very exciting, but we are glad that we were able to present the national dance as an asset of our country.

Russian language professors and heads of university creative teams acted as experts and jurors for the festival.

The results of the competitions will be announced over the next few days. The winners and runners-up will be presented with an award ceremony.
