Ivan Vladyka, a student of the School of Information Technology, won the BRICS Future Skills Challenge 2022 in the Web Application Development competence.

The International Advanced Skills Championship took place from 24 to 28 May in a face-to-face distance-learning format in the educational venues of the BRICS countries. More than 80 teams took part in the competition: students from Russia, China, Brazil, India, South Africa and Laos.

The participants presented their projects in 70 different competencies, 17 of which were led by the Agency for Professional Skills Development (Worldskills Russia). Ivan Vladyka, a representative of VSUES, a 1st year student of Information Systems and Technologies, like his competitors, worked on creating the website of an online shop of a fictitious Chinese company. The task was divided into two modules, each of which could be completed in five hours.

— On the first day, we had to develop the internal part of the site, which was responsible for processing, storing information and the logic of the shop. On the second day, we had to «revive» the website design provided to us, using the data and integration from the first module, says Ivan Vladyka. — Due to the remote format of the championship, a week before the competition, we repeatedly tested the infrastructure to minimize errors in the process. I personally found a couple of problems with the software, which were fixed in just a couple of minutes after they were reported to the company''''s expert.

The jury as the best in its category recognized Ivan’s design. The student managed to beat 45 competitors, including four from Russian universities. Participating in the BRICS Future Skills Challenge 2022 allowed him to develop the skills required in his profession, assess the competitiveness of his knowledge and get expert opinions.

Ivan is now a member of the WorldSkills national team in the Web Technology competence. Thanks to this, the student can attend regular distance training sessions in his field, learn new IT technologies and prepare for participation in international competitions.
