Summer is a great time to gain new knowledge. While the university is preparing for the new academic year, students from China, Korea, Japan, Mongolia and Thailand are learning Russian as part of Vladivostok Summer School 2022. During the online classes, the foreigners were able to immerse themselves in Russian culture, learn about student life at the university, and even make blini (pancakes).

It is not the first time that some of the students have taken part in such events. Although this time the requirements for Russian language proficiency were much higher than during the winter school, the students successfully completed the tasks and received certificates of completion.

A multifaceted educational program was prepared by experts from the Department of International and Cultural Affairs of the VSUES with the participation of the International Department for Training and Adaptation of Foreign Nationals. Inna Ishmurzina, a teacher at the Preparatory Department for Foreign Nationals, provided the students with an opportunity to learn the Russian language in a format of live communication, and the class culminated in a master class on making blini (pancakes) with various fillings.

At the end of the project, the participants shared impressions and emotions with the teacher and expressed their sincere gratitude for the sessions.

A student from Thailand:

– Learning is interesting! I gained a lot of new knowledge of the Russian language during my participation in the summer school.

A student from Japan:

– I would really like to have friends from Russia; I am interested in Russian language and culture.

A student from China:

– Thanks to the teachers efforts, my conversational level of Russian has improved considerably.

Despite the fact that the participants saw each other for the first time through the monitor screen, they expressed their desire to become friends and keep in touch after graduation.
