Vladivostok State University plans to increase enrolment of international students by 15% in the new academic year.

– We are interested in attracting foreign students. One of our tasks is to increase the number of students from Laos several times by providing them with special facilities. In China and Mongolia, we are working on the establishment of Russian-language training centers, which are analogous to university preparatory department. We hope that our work will increase the flow of foreign students by about 15% – said Sergei Golikov, First Vice-Rector of VVSU.

He specified that 8-10 people came from Laos every year, but this year it is planned to enroll about 30. Economic, managerial and linguistic training programs are the most popular among foreigners entering VVSU. In addition, citizens of other countries receive education in design, information technology and tourism. Now the university is actively developing the engineering area and expects the interest of applicants to study architecture, construction and mining.

For students from China, the university offers full-time study format. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the university has organized mixed training – part of the students study in Russia, attending full-time classes, and for foreigners the educational process takes place in an online format. According to the first vice-rector of the university, Chinese students will return to full-time education gradually, in groups.
