During the meeting September 15, 2023 First vice-rector Sergei Golikov and the director of International and Cultural Affairs Department and Lao Ambassador and delegates had discussed education prospects. In particular, the discussion was about the training of guides-interpreters at VVSU to work with Russian tourists in Laos and the possibility of training Laotian students in secondary vocational education programs.
Vilavanh Yiapoher, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Lao People's Democratic Republic to the Russian Federation:
– I am very glad to visit VVSU. I would like to thank the university staff and professors who work with our students. Lao students like the conditions for studying, and they feel like at home. We will never forget about this help that the university provides to our students, they are our future.
Sergey Golikov, First vice-rector of VVSU:
– Thanks to the Eastern Economic Forum, we have this meeting with Mrs. Vilavanh Yiapoher. VVSU has close working experience with National University of Laos. Russian Language Center has been working for several years in this university and VVSU professors of Russian language work there on an ongoing basis.
Laotian students are good, diligent, and responsible; they do sports and participate in festivals. This year VVSU accepted 19 students. A special program was made for them - free travel to Russia, which is important for Laotian families. In total, 35 Laotian citizens study in VVSU. We hope that this cooperation will expand, and we will accept Laotian students not only for higher education programs, but also for secondary vocational ones.
Souphaphone Douangyadeth, Institute of International Business, Economics and Management, Master program:
– It is true that we feel like home here as Madam Ambassador said. The professors are kind and always help us. It is very pleasant that today we have had such a warm meeting with Mrs. Vilavanh Yiapoher.
