VVSU took part in the forum “Youth of Russia and China: a Vector to the Future”

In the end of September an International youth forum “Youth of Russia and China: a Vector to the Future” took place in Khabarovsk. Students of many Russian universities and northeast provinces of China took part in the forum. The participants created the projects on cooperation between the two countries and establishment of an interethnic student community. Students of Institute of Pedagogy and Linguistics Ekaterina Sviridova and Bo Qianlong represented VVSU at the forum.

VVSU students worked on projects in the “Tourism” section at the forum. According to Ekaterina Sviridova, the idea was based on supporting foreign students who come to study in Russia. The project included plan of events that would promote social adaptation, learning about customs and culture, as well as ways to implement them.

Bo Qianlong, 4th year student, majoring in “Linguistics”:

– Apart from Vladivostok, I have visited Moscow and Nakhodka. I came to Khabarovsk for the first time. I really liked the Khabarovsk roads and the excursion to the Amur Bridge.

I met many students from Russia and my compatriots from China, some of them experienced difficulties because they do not speak Russian yet.

There were about 20 people in our team. We made a very cool defense of our project because we were well prepared.

In our school (Hohhot city, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region) there was a Russian language teacher, Li Meihua, who studied at VVSU. She told me about this university. I respect her very much and listen to her words, I didn’t think twice about it. After I get bachelor''s degree I want to continue my studies here in master''s program. I see my future work in Russia, but it is still a big question for me what it is going to be.

Ekaterina Sviridova, 3rd year student, majoring in “Linguistics”:

– I’ve been to Khabarovsk before, but a very long time ago. Of course, the first thing that strikes you here after Vladivostok is the wide, smooth roads and minimal traffic jams, even during rush hours. The city is more relaxed, which is also attractive.

I met many people, all of them quite nice. I talked to Chinese students.

Working on projects in the tourism sector was very interesting. This was right up my street since I am going to be a translator. The projects were prepared for two days, and on the third day we defended it.

I would advise my fellow students to participate such events, get new experience, even if it is a bit scary for the first time.

I love our university very much, there are many opportunities for students here. The faculty is good, everybody is eager to help you. I am planning my future career as a translator. I would like to try myself abroad. But I think there are also a lot of opportunities in this area in Russia.

Director of the Institute of Pedagogy and Linguistics Yulia Konovalova, Cand. Sc. Philology, told why Ekaterina Sviridova and Bo Qianlong became delegates for the trip to the forum “Youth of Russia and China: Vector to the Future”:

– Bo Qianlong is one of our most active stuednts. His level of Russian is very high. He is very active and positive. He has a willingness to communicate and make decisions.

Ekaterina has a high interest in intercultural communication, she is very active, she takes part in a variety of scientific, student, and career events.

We believed that the participation in the forum would be very useful for students. It would contribute to achieving  the main goals of the forum - getting to know the youth of Russia and China, participating in joint projects and making positive attitude towards each other.
