The first Euro-Asian IT forum finished in Moscow. The main agenda of the forum was digital sovereignty as the basis for long-term international cooperation. Assistant of the VVSU Department of International Relations and Law Sofia Skliarova took part in a panel session dedicated to training personnel for digital public administration.

The Euro-Asian IT Forum is one of the key events held before the BRICS summit. The event brought together experts, entrepreneurs and various representatives from different countries.

“It is worth saying that we were talking not only about the training of public officers, but also about the development of education in general, so to speak, in the “digital” direction. It is interesting experience to present here in person, not to read in the news about it” noted Sofia Skliarova.

The representative of Moscow State Institute of International Relations Evgenii Pogrebniak shared the university’s experience on the creation and work of the digital department. A joint project of the Ministry of Education and Science and the Ministry of Digital Development of Russia allows students to master a new profession in the field of Information Technology. In other words, undergo vocational retraining to obtain skills that students can combine with their major.

Experts also discussed issues in the field of personnel training in a rapidly developing digital environment. The main ones were named: poor material and technical equipment, lack of interest among university teachers in obtaining digital competencies, as well as making appropriate changes to their courses.

“The modern world is developing and changing rapidly. Improving IT technologies creates fundamentally new trends and challenges that we all will have to reckon with. One of the most important tasks of a teacher today is not to lose sight of these changes in order to help students be versed in them,” comments Roman Grivanov, the head of the Department of International Relations and Law.
