VVSU students participated in an educational tour to Lake Baikal
The VVSU Travel company continues to delight students with educational tours to different cities of Russia. In March, a trip to Baikal took place, organized jointly with Irkutsk State University.
The students visited the Trubetskoy House-Museum, where they learned about the difficult fate of the Decembrists (Decembrist Revolt in Russian Empire), were able to go into the era of those times.
The group also visited the nerpinarium (seal breeding vat), visited a student co-working space, where the students had a master class on modeling the Buryat national dish.
“We visited very beautiful places, enjoyed the magnificent landscapes of the taiga, mountains, and lakes. We fed the deer, climbed to the top of Mount Mailgar, learned about local culture, and tasted delicious national dishes. I am very glad that VVSU Travel provided such a wonderful opportunity and helped make my dream come true,” said Eleonora Kvashnina, a student at the Institute of Law.
And the pearl of the program was a visit to Lake Baikal. The students went to the village of Listvyanka, where they visited the “Live on Baikal” exhibition, admired sculptures carved from the ice of the lake, went ice skating and were even able to see an amazing phenomenon - gas bubbles in the thickness of the ice of the lake.
“The trip became very important for me. I have long dreamed of seeing this transparent and incredibly beautiful ice and skating. Indeed, this is a place of power where you recharge with energy. I''''ll definitely come back again. I thank VVSU Travel and the International Institute of Environment and Tourism for organizing such an amazing tour,” shared student Diana Metelkina..
“We would especially like to thank the student volunteers of Irkutsk State University for the impeccable organization of all events and true Irkutsk hospitality. I am very glad that students have the opportunity to travel. The student tourism program is one of them. I encourage the guys to continue to participate in such projects,” said Sofya Yarusova, head of the Department of Ecology and Environmental Problems of Chemical Technology at VVSU.
