Taking photographs with your heart: a meeting with an Indian photographer took place in the VVSU library
An open lecture for professional photographers and students majoring in the “Technique and Art of Photography” at VVSU was given by Anita Anandan, a photo artist from India, winner and prize-winner of many international photography competitions, and now a student at the VVSU preparatory department for foreign students.
For the last 10 years, Anita has been living in Russia and photographing everything she sees around her. Her main passion is portraits of people. The photographer said that she tries to find her own approach to each person. In India people are not so concerned if they come out well in the photo. In Russia a person begins to “try” to look good when he or she sees a camera. Therefore, Anita tries to photograph Russians discreetly to catch the moment.
Anita also noted how beautifully and sophisticatedly the residents of Vladivostok dress, and also admired the landscapes of the city itself. According to the photographer, watching sunsets in Vladivostok can feel like you are watching a movie.
The meeting was also attended by students from the preparatory department of the Institute for the Training of Foreign Citizens. An additional bonus for the participants was a small exhibition of Anita''s live photographs presented in the library. The photographer gladly answered, explained why she loves black and white photography more than color photography, and gave some advice to her novice colleagues.
