VVSU at the EEF: The Future of Higher Education is Moving Towards Development
VVSU Rector Tatiana Terenteva and Vice-Rector for Youth Policy Iulia Chebova took part in the session “The Future of Higher Education: Moving Towards Development”. The session discussed the fact that achieving the goals of demographic and socio-economic development in the Far East is impossible without training in-demand specialists, high-quality higher education and the development of scientific research.
“The shortage of people and, in particular, qualified personnel is a huge problem in the Far East. There are many reasons for this, one of them is educational migration from the region,” Tatyana Terenteva shared. “I offered a number of measures to attract and retain young people in the Far East. But this should be a systemic approach with the participation of all stakeholders: the state, business and education.”
A panel discussion “Science and Technology: Driving Projects in the Education of the Far East” was held at the site of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, in which representatives of VVSU took part. The discussion focused on the main areas of development of scientific and technological projects in education in the Far East.
“The main focus of the discussion was on the training of in-demand specialists, high-quality higher education and the development of Advanced Engineering Schools. The experts also discussed the issues of implementing the track of the Priority-2030 program,” shared Tatyana Terenteva, Rector of VVSU. – Among the first positive results, an increase in the number of educational programs in universities, the development of network cooperation between universities and businesses were noted, while it was emphasized that it is necessary to develop the direction of targeted training in the Far Eastern Federal District."
Olga Petrova, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, took part in the discussion.
"There are many challenges, but I can say for sure that close collaboration of everyone who comes to the Far East and is charged with the energy of this place allows us to effectively implement development projects. Together we can definitely do it!" emphasized Deputy Minister Olga Petrova.
In addition to working at panel sessions, during the EEF, Tatyana Terenteva took part in the opening of the exhibition "The Age of Faberge. The Golden Age of Russian Jewelry Art" at the Arsenyev Museum. The project shows the work of the great Russian jeweler Carl Faberge, a supplier to the royal court, and his contemporaries, famous Russian gold and silversmiths and stone cutters. More than three hundred unique items from the collection of the Moscow Kremlin Museums are presented in Vladivostok.
