VVSU students from China, Laos, Senegal and Egypt prepared their national sweet dishes for the festival in advance. The students also prepared presentations and stories about the dishes for guests and jury members.

A student of the Institute of Information Technology and Data Analysis from Egypt, Omar Hamed, gave a welcoming speech at the official opening ceremony of the festival, wishing good luck and a great mood to all the contestants, organizers and guests of the festival.

Students from China Yan Haolian and Zhao Jiahao know how to cook well and deliciously. For them, this event became a whole culinary adventure, and the corn with pine nuts went off like hotcakes  in a matter of minutes.

The students from Laos Kettavong Panisa and Somsanith Thilalinthone cooked sweet corn with coconut milk, wrapping them in corn leaves. This dish is called "Nab sa lee" in Laos. The girls decorated the dish beautifully and served it on special dishes.

Participants from Egypt, VVSU students Mousa Yahia and Omar Hamed, have already won the culinary competition (at the international interuniversity festival "I am studying in Russia" in April 2024). For the festival "World of Pryanik. Far East", they cooked a sweet dish called "Zalabia", which is small sweet donuts.

Mohamed Sy represented Senegal, and his dish was called "Fataya", or simply "Donuts". It was for this dish that Mohamed Sy received the title of laureate of the International Festival "World of Pryanik. Far East. The jury highly appreciated not only their taste, but also the very original presentation of the dish.

It should be noted that the festival program also included interesting master classes. On one of the days, Russian third-year student of VVSU (Pedagogical Education. English and Korean) together with Korean exchange students from Hallym University participated in master classes on painting gingerbreads, demonstrating their skills and creativity.

Following the event, all the students received certificates of participation and prizes. The jury members determined several laureates-winners of the competition. A student from Senegal, Mohamed Sy, was awarded a laureate diploma for his national dish, which captivated all the jury members.

According to Iulia Konovalova, Director of the Institute of Pedagogy and Linguistics at VVSU, this event was an excellent opportunity for foreign students of the university to learn about Russian culture.

“It seems that it is easy to prepare a dish. But knowing that several hundred people can come and try your culinary creation, you try to cook it as better as possible. Our students successfully completed this task, and their cuisine delighted the visitors of the event,” shared Iulia Konovalova.

The atmosphere of the festival was very friendly and warm. Of course, although the jury singled out several best dishes, all participants became winners, and, as they say, “Friendship won!”
