January 14, the IV Russian-Chinese Youth Winter Games ended in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. ViKtoria Ermolaeva, a VVSU student of the Institute of Law, became the coordinator of the first international competitions in 2025.

The competitions at the Vostok training base brought together 224 athletes from Russia and China. The participants competed in nine disciplines: alpine skiing and speed skating, curling, cross-country skiing and biathlon, snowboarding, figure skating, freestyle, and ski jumping.

“Such competitions are an excellent basis for strengthening friendly ties between countries. From the first days of the games, we worked with foreign athletes, helped guests from China at the airport, at check-in and at competition venues,” said ViKtoria Ermolaeva.

More than 10 000 spectators visited the games on Sakhalin over four days. The youth competitions united guests under one roof not only from the Far East, but also from all over Russia and China.

“There was a difficult selection for the games. But it was worth it! After all, I visited Sakhalin for the first time. We were provided with the flight tickets, accommodation, transfer, food. The volunteers were only required to work 200% during the games. I gained experience working at a major event, made new friends,” ViKtoria shared.

It should be noted that the games on Sakhalin are not the first large-scale event in Viktoria’s collection. ViKtoria has previously participated in organizing the BRICS sports games and the 2024 Eastern Economic Forum.
