Vladivostok State University Hosts North Korean Delegation Tour

May 22, Vladivostok State University received a high-level delegation from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), headed by Deputy Minister of Education Lee Chang Sik. Comprising university rectors, pro-rectors, and officials from both the DPRK Ministry of Education and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this distinguished group embarked on a comprehensive campus tour.

Welcomed warmly by First Pro-Rector Sergei Golikov and Director of International and Cultural Affairs Peter Semin, the primary objective of the visit was to gain insight into the operations and facilities of Vladivostok State University. Guided by Deputy Director of International and Cultural Affairs Olga Severianova, along with specialists Irina Akisheva and Olga Bogova, the delegates experienced firsthand the cultural and academic environment offered by the institution.

Highlights of the tour included visits to the “Underground” Theater and Concert Complex, where they observed live rehearsals and preparations for upcoming events. Impressed by modern amenities such as the state-of-the-art Digital Library and innovative learning spaces like the “Tochka Kpeniya” (Boiling Point), the delegates gained a deep appreciation for the university’s commitment to excellence.

They explored various departments within the Institute of Creative Industries, including hairstyling arts and virtual reality technologies. Led by Director of Student Dormitory Marina Levchenko, the delegation toured the student accommodation facility, providing insights into the living standards.

Additionally, participants enjoyed a stroll through the impressive sports complex “Champion.” Their journey concluded at the university’s museum-exhibition complex, where curator Nadezhda Sukhareva expertly guided them through an exhibition commemorating the 80th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
