Valerii Falkov Evaluated Development of Engineering Education and Applied Research at VVSU
Valerii Falkov, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, visited Vladivostok State University during his working trip to the Far East. He inspected key laboratories and centers, including those focused on intelligent systems, robotics, virtual reality, industrial design, computing, and digital libraries. Rector Tatiana Terenteva presented the university's development strategy based on four clusters aligned with regional economic needs: creative industries, tourism and hospitality, engineering education, and pedagogy. Special attention was given to practical projects such as the student design bureau "EvoTech," which develops robots and takes real orders under the guidance of Aleksandr Ganiushkin, a graduate of VVSU and resident of Skolkovo. Additionally, the Scientific-Educational Center "Artificial Intelligence" led by Karina Shakhgeldian focuses on AI research in medicine, particularly predictive and diagnostic models in cardiology and cardiac surgery. The visit highlighted the importance of developing engineering education and applied research in regional universities, aligning with national higher education modernization goals.
