Art Without Borders
VSU Students Participate in Russia-China Festival
Held from October 8 to 10 at Far East State University in Khabarovsk, the Art Without Borders festival marked important historical milestones: the 80th anniversary of victory against fascism in World War II and 76 years of diplomatic relations between Russia and China.
Organized by China's General Consulate in Khabarovsk, the event united students from universities and schools across the region—including Khabarovsk, Vladivostok, Birobidzhan, and Blagoveshchensk.
Out of 40 preliminary round submissions, only 15 acts advanced to the grand finale on October 10. Among them were three outstanding contributions from VVSU students:
- Cheng He, singing the Chinese song "Several Miles Around";
- Danil Gilmisurin, performing Sergey Esenin's "I Remember" in Chinese;
- Zhou Yue, presenting Alexander Pushkin's "If Life Deceives You" bilingually.
All three received diplomas: Danil and Zhou became laureates of the third degree, while Cheng He achieved second-degree distinction.
Guests at the gala included acting General Consul Liu Yang, TOGU rector Y.S. Marfin, and others. Event coordinator Maria Basova emphasized that such festivals enhance cross-cultural exchanges and reinforce cooperation between Russia and China.
"These events bring people closer together and nurture lasting friendships."
