Teachers at VVSU Master AI Technology Applications in Higher Education

27 февраля 2026 Education

An open seminar on utilizing artificial intelligence in education was held at VVSU. Faculty members developed targeted skills in integrating AI into their work. The session was led by instructors Pavel Kalashnikov and Sergei Shevirev from the College of Information and Creative Technologies.

Speakers discussed how AI technology can assist in selecting the optimal regression model, as well as its practical application in forecasting and discovering deposits during Earth remote sensing.

Olga Baturina, vice rector for academic policy at VVSU, stated, "Education acquires meaning when its outcomes contribute to the overall repository of experience. Today, artificial intelligence is a tool indispensable in every field. In 2025, 150 professors at our university underwent advanced training courses specifically designed to apply AI in educational processes. Our strategy is straightforward — instead of accumulating knowledge within a single group, we actively disseminate successful practices across departments."

Pavel Kalashnikov and Sergei Shevirev demonstrated practical methods for verifying hypotheses, solutions, and findings using AI tools. Such skills help improve both the productivity of the educational process and facilitate transferring acquired knowledge to students and younger specialists.

Baturina explained further, "Throughout the upcoming year, graduates of these programs will host open workshops accessible to all interested colleagues. Through lively interaction, hands-on analyses of real-world scenarios, and observing functioning strategies firsthand, attendees gain valuable resources immediately applicable to their own repertoire. This approach represents the most natural and productive method for ensuring continuous professional development among our university''''s educators."

As the meeting concluded, the participants consolidated their newfound skills by practicing the resolution of realistic case studies provided by college lecturers Pavel Kalashnikov and Sergei Shevirev.
