Foreign Students at VVSU Learn Financial Safety Basics
Vladivostok State University recently hosted an educational event for international students. Specialists from the Primorsky branch of Rosselkhozbank discussed administrative responsibility and personal financial safety.
The meeting aimed to protect young people from modern cybercrimes. Representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Primorsky Krai opened the lecture, informing students about migration registration rules, public order norms, and the consequences of violations. They stressed that ignorance of local laws does not exempt one from responsibility, and compliance is key to successful studies and stay in the country.
Rosselkhozbank experts analyzed current fraud schemes, explaining how to recognize social engineering tactics, secure bank accounts, and avoid falling victim to phone or online scams. Bank staff demonstrated which data should never be shared with third parties and how to respond to suspicious calls. Due to language barriers, foreign citizens are often targeted by fraudsters, so students were urged to be especially vigilant.
Sergei Savchenko, Head of the Comprehensive Security Department at VVSU, noted that such meetings with relevant authorities and businesses would be held regularly to ensure the comprehensive safety of international students.
The event concluded with an open dialogue, allowing students to ask questions and receive practical advice.
Olga Severianova, Deputy Director of the International and Cultural Affairs Department, stated that the event was highly significant for students in the preparatory department, as most of them had only recently started learning Russian and familiarizing themselves with the new culture, traditions, and rules.
Vladimir Griniov, Head of the Center for Preventive and Educational Activities, encouraged students not to hesitate in reporting suspicious incidents to university staff and law enforcement agencies, emphasizing that prevention is always more effective than dealing with consequences.
